About The Position

This position provides office support for Home Support Services, maintaining timekeeping records, processing timekeeping data, applying time coding, and entering data. The role also handles employee inquiries, maintains client databases, compiles statistics, and performs various clerical duties. Responsibilities include word processing, transcribing, editing, and proofreading documents, checking staff travel expense claims and physician's sessional billings, and maintaining client charts. The clerk will also distribute laboratory reports, process mail, attend meetings, act as a receptionist, manage office supplies and equipment, and participate in team planning and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Completion of an approved Medical Office Assistant program.
  • At least one (1) year of recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to compose business correspondence.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to perform relevant calculations.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate computerized patient care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
