They are looking for a part-time Time Keeping and Reconciliation Specialist based in Long Beach, CA.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school. Equivalent experience in a payroll specialist role is also considered.
  • Minimum 2+ years of payroll experience in a fast‑paced, multi‑state environment
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and wage and hour regulations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism
  • Proven ability to collaborate across HR and Accounting teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and keyboarding; ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework at an accredited institution in accounting/or financial record keeping is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of and responsibility for a variety of areas, including but not limited to payroll, employee retirement, workers compensation, tax reporting, general ledger and labor laws
  • Ensures that payroll functions are carried out accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with legal requirements and sound financial management principles and practices
  • Processes accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Prepares and processes a variety of payroll-related documents, off‑cycle payrolls, final checks, and manual adjustments
  • Balance and reconcile payrolls, including garnishments and 401(k) administration
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and wage and hour regulations
  • Manages payroll tax filings, payments, and other required payroll reporting
  • Partners with Accounting on monthly payroll close and payroll audits
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and 401(k) questions
  • Identifies opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiencies
  • Acquires and applies in-depth knowledge of complex payroll and related system functions
  • Performs other payroll‑related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
