Tigrinya Interpreter (Part-Time)
About The Position
Siouxland Community Health Center has an open position for a Part-time Tigrinya Interpreter. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 2 pm. The successful candidate must have solid experience and advanced knowledge in verbal, reading, and written bilingual communication skills in Tigrinya. EMR experience is a definite plus, as are advanced computer skills and knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care, with the ability to diminish these barriers on behalf of patients and SCHC. The successful candidate must be able to perform the primary functions of the position, which include providing translation services and supporting non-English speaking patients and their families throughout their clinical visit. This role involves working directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff. Additionally, the interpreter will assist patients in completing all necessary intake forms at their initial visit, including demographic and medical history, and financial verification, and will assist social service workers and patients in completing the social service intake process. These functions are not all-inclusive.
Requirements
- Solid experience and advanced knowledge of Tigrinya
- Fluency in verbal, reading and written bilingual communication skills – Tigrinya
- Advanced computer skills
- Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers on the patients’ and SCHC’s behalf

Responsibilities
