Requirements

  • Set-up and operate Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and automatic inert gas (plasma) welding equipment
  • Buttweld tube sections together
  • Grind welds smooth
  • Weld wear beads utilizing automatic Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) process
  • Straighten tubes
  • Operate automatic TIG and/or electric arc welding equipment
  • Place work into position on worktable, fixture, rotator, positioner, or where welding is to be performed
  • Use prescribed methods, procedures, gas flow and wire
  • Visually check predetermined settings as needed
  • Manually advance, measure, mark and cut tube to per-order lengths using abrasive cut-off saw
  • Grind and polish weld reinforcements smooth with stationary power grinder and/or hand grinder to close tolerances
  • Use hydraulic press to straighten tubes as required
  • Check I.D. of insulated feed tubes by inserting section of liner tube inside feed tube
  • Use automatic TIG process to weld wear beads on feed tubes
  • Grind wear beads to ring gage dimensions
  • Weld beads on liner tubes
  • OD polish tubes as required
  • Inspect own work in process
  • Measure, mark, identify work, record production data, etc., as directed
  • Responsible for performance of duties and for good housekeeping in immediate work area
  • Cooperate with and receive assistance from other shop personnel in the performance of work functions

Responsibilities

  • Grinds welds smooth.
  • Welds wear beads utilizing automatic Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) process.
  • Straightens tubes, all in accordance with approved weld procedure specifications.
  • Operates automatic TIG and/or electric arc welding equipment to buttweld tubing.
  • Places work into position on worktable, fixture, rotator, positioner, or where welding is to be performed.
  • Uses prescribed methods, procedures, gas flow and wire; visually checks predetermined settings as needed.
