About The Position

Tarpon Specialty Services is hiring TIG Tackers for industrial piping projects in the Walker / Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. The role involves working alongside experienced pipe fitters and welders to perform TIG tacking on piping systems in a fast-paced industrial environment. The ideal candidate can use a TIG torch and produce quality work from day one. This is a full-time position requiring 40 or more hours per week, with overtime available. Pay is competitive and based on experience and skill level. Per diem is available for qualified travelers. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds, and reliably travel to and from the jobsite. Applicants must pass a drug screen and background check.

Requirements

Hands-on TIG tacking experience on pipe; industrial or construction experience is preferred.
Ability to produce clean, consistent tacks that hold fit-up and meet weld quality standards.
Familiarity with pipe fit-up, hand tools, grinders, and preparation work.
Safety-conscious, dependable, and able to work at pace.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Must pass a drug screen and background check.
Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.

Responsibilities

Perform TIG tacking welding on pipe and piping components according to specifications and fit-up requirements.
Assist pipe fitters with layout, fit-up, and assembly of piping systems.
Read and interpret basic pipe drawings, isometrics, and weld symbols.
Cut, grind, and prepare materials as needed before tacking.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Follow company safety policies and site-specific procedures.
