The Teacher in this position will provide instruction to students with Autism, prepare instructional materials for K-5, participate in staff in-service training, meetings, and activities, maintain records as necessary for efficient procedures and evaluation, and maintain professionalism by being confidential with all school-related information. This role also involves assisting in the supervision and control of students to promote a safe, orderly, positive learning climate, accomplishing all tasks in a professional manner, and modeling appropriate and healthy adult behavior. The teacher will use the Make Your Day model and trauma-informed practices, striving to be student trauma (ACES) informed. Responsibilities include using both push-in and pull-out models as necessary, creating schedules for students K-5 to be in the Tier II classroom, and providing necessary support when students are in general education classrooms. The teacher will work with general education teachers who have Tier II students in their classrooms, provide training and support for paraeducators to ensure students are learning academics while teaching behavioral/social skills, and observe students in the classroom setting to look for triggers, opportunities to self-regulate, etc. The role may involve home visits and interacting with people in a manner that reflects community standards of politeness, civility, and human sensitivity. The teacher will demonstrate the ability to assess and correct issues involving safety, establish and maintain tactful, cooperative, and effective relationships with students, parents, staff, fellow employees, and management, and approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery, and continuous improvement.
