About The Position

The Part-Time Box Office Ticket Seller serves as the first point of contact for guests purchasing tickets and seeking event information. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while accurately processing ticket sales, handling cash transactions, assisting with will-call, and providing information about events at the DCU Center. Successful candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a positive guest experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months to one year of customer service, cash handling, retail, hospitality, or related experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to accurately count money and make change.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and ticket transactions.
  • Ability to enter data accurately into computerized ticketing systems.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to answer guest questions professionally.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous box office or guest services experience.
  • Experience using computerized ticketing or point-of-sale systems.

Responsibilities

  • Sell tickets for events using the venue's computerized ticketing system.
  • Open and close ticket windows in accordance with established procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting guests promptly, professionally, and courteously.
  • Respond to guest inquiries regarding events, ticket availability, pricing, seating, and venue information.
  • Process ticket sales accurately while maintaining proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Balance daily cash drawer, reconcile ticket sales, and submit cash and documentation for audit.
  • Maintain accurate counts of ticket inventory, including hard tickets and computerized ticket sales.
  • Process will-call orders and reserved ticket requests according to established procedures.
  • Assist with ticket reservations made by telephone or other approved methods.
  • Perform routine clerical and administrative duties related to box office operations.
  • Work independently while following established policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Support other box office functions and perform additional duties as assigned.
