About The Position

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) is hiring a Thrust Vector Control (TVC) Systems Integration & Components Engineer to support advanced propulsion systems development, integration, testing, and flight operations under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract supporting NASA. The engineer will work with industry and government experts on hydraulic and electromechanical control systems that are critical to launch vehicle performance and mission success. The role is part of the TVC Systems Integration and Components Development Team. It involves technical work across the development lifecycle, including system design, analysis, verification, validation, hardware integration, assembly, laboratory testing, qualification testing, and review of test and flight performance data. The engineer also supports design reviews, anomaly investigations, hardware specifications, and technical communications with program leadership and NASA stakeholders. The work environment is an office setting, with extended computer and desk work, technical meetings, and travel within the domestic United States. The normal workday is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; minimal overtime may be needed to meet schedule milestones and technical demands. Proof of U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and/or Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting engineering test data.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise rational decision-making and good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately, and promptly, verbally and in writing, and to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing aerospace components such as actuators, valves, mechanisms, latches, bellows, tubing, pressurized systems, and LVDTs.
  • Knowledge of NASA, aerospace, or equivalent industry design and manufacturing standards.
  • Experience with launch vehicle propulsion systems, cryogenic systems, or high-pressure fluid systems.
  • Experience supporting TVC systems for launch vehicles, solid rocket motors, or similar applications.
  • Supplier management and hardware procurement experience.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar engineering tools.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software; Creo is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in TVC hydraulic actuators, electromechanical actuators, controllers, and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs).
  • Support the design, integration, analysis, verification, and validation of propulsion control systems throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate system requirements, hardware and software configurations, performance characteristics, operational procedures, and test data.
  • Develop and implement control strategies, algorithms, feedback control loops, and software interfaces for electromechanical systems.
  • Support design reviews and provide technical insight into commercial partner TVC system designs and propulsion control architectures.
  • Participate in anomaly resolution and failure investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering specifications for internally developed and procured hardware.
  • Create test plans, support qualification testing, and evaluate test and flight performance data.
