About The Position

The Salvation Army is hiring a Part Time Plus Thrift Store Worker for 20 hours per week, with potential for variation. This position reports to the Thrift Store Manager and/or Corps Officer. The role involves maintaining general cleanliness, assisting with retail operations and item processing, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Requirements

• Ability to operate cash register and accurately make change.
• Must be dependable, honest and able to work independently.
• Good communications, customer service and organizational skills.
• Be neat and polite and effectively relate to people.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Team player with a positive attitude and committed to the store success.
• Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
• Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
• Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum, mop, dust, clean restrooms, empty trash/cardboard, and perform other cleaning duties as assigned.
• Operate cash register, greet and assist customers.
• Help organize sorting room and item processing.
• Coordinate the pitch bags for rag pick-up.
• Vacuum and spray pillows and furniture.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Thrift Store Manager or Corps Officer.
• Always use safety belt when lifting.
• Arrange for available help for heavy items over 75 pounds.
• Make sure sales aisles and exits are clear at all times.
