About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Thrift Store Worker for immediate hire in Williamsport. This is a Part Time Plus position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, though hours may vary. The role reports to the Thrift Store Manager and/or Corps Officer. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $9.25 - $9.75.

Requirements

• Ability to operate a cash register and accurately make change.
• Must be dependable, honest, and able to work independently.
• Good communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Must be neat, polite, and effectively relate to people.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude and committed to the store's success.
• Must understand and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
• Completion of Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requirements: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
• Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum, mop, dust, clean restrooms, empty trash/cardboard, and perform other general cleaning duties as assigned.
• Operate cash register, greet and assist customers.
• Help organize the sorting room and item processing.
• Coordinate the pitch bags for rag pick-up.
• Vacuum and spray pillows and furniture.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Thrift Store Manager or Corps Officer.
• Always use a safety belt when lifting.
• Arrange for available help for heavy items over 75 pounds.
• Make sure sales aisles and exits are clear at all times.
