About The Position

Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) is seeking a passionate and entrepreneurial Store Manager to lead their Elmwood Park, NJ thrift retail location. This role involves driving sales growth, embedding the brand, providing exceptional customer service, and cultivating high-performing teams. The Store Manager is responsible for operational excellence, adhering to Goodwill NYNJ standards with meticulous attention to detail, and fostering a learning environment that embodies the company's mission. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a retail store management position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite and ability to adapt to internal applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and push/pull up to 50lbs.
  • Must have open availability and be able to work holidays.
  • Proven ability to drive and exceed individual and store results.
  • Proven ability to build lasting relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt to and engage with internal and external customers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with customers, sales leadership team and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to receive feedback and act when appropriate.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which include evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales reports and data to develop business strategies and set KPI goals (ATV, UPT, conversion).
  • Coach and motivate the team to achieve sales goals and develop associates' sales techniques and product knowledge.
  • Demonstrate sales leadership on the selling floor and collaborate with management and marketing on sales-driving opportunities.
  • Drive brand loyalty by coaching the sales team on the Rewards program and Mission, and educating customers.
  • Ensure all associates provide excellent customer service and cultivate customer relationships.
  • Resolve customer complaints efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage store P&L by controlling expenses and labor costs.
  • Ensure adherence to cash control procedures, including bank deposits, safe funds, and petty cash.
  • Create effective schedules to ensure adequate floor coverage and donation processing while maintaining payroll budgets.
  • Protect store assets and inventory, and report Loss Prevention concerns.
  • Ensure accurate product assessment, selection, and pricing.
  • Maximize stockroom production and efficient product flow to the sales floor.
  • Implement and maintain merchandising directives and visual strategies.
  • Partner with the warehouse and Market Manager for appropriate inventory assortment.
  • Identify and communicate product concerns.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized sales floor reflecting the correct visual image.
  • Ensure presentation of windows, displays, and visual areas align with current visual direction.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members.
  • Assess employee proficiency and provide timely training.
  • Evaluate team member performance, provide feedback, develop bench strength, and plan for succession.
  • Resolve employee relations issues in a timely manner, partnering with People & Culture when necessary.
