About The Position

The Thrift Store Associate provides quality customer service as part of the Thrift Store Operations. Receives donations, processes and displays merchandise, operates a cash register, and completes sales transactions. The Salvation Army of Superior is dedicated to sharing God's love, helping disaster survivors, offering basic necessities from their Basic Needs Pantry, and providing casework services, coats for kids, community care ministries, holiday assistance, and more. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the community.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred.
• Candidates who are back-to-work, US Veterans, people with disabilities, people who have been impacted by the justice system, and/or people without a college degree are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and evaluates donations for resale suitability.
• Ensures quality of inventory by adhering to merchandise standards when accepting donations.
• Maintains donation area cleanliness through the store’s business hours.
• Cleans, prices, and displays merchandise.
• Arranges merchandise displays throughout the store as assigned.
• Operates cash register, assists with sales transactions, and with the reconciliation of daily cash receipts.
• Answers phone lines and provides customer service.
• Assists customers on the sales floor and suggests sales when appropriate.
• Builds positive donor relations by providing information regarding use of donations.
• Actively supports a team environment among store associates.
• Ensures a safe work environment by keeping aisles and other areas clear of debris.
• Unloads donations from truck.
