About The Position

Over 1,200 Matches (Bigs & Littles) get together every week in Kansas City. Research proves that children enrolled in BBBSKC programs are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and friends and are less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol. Big Brothers Big Sisters Thrift Operations collects used, unwanted clothing and small household items on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters. These items are purchased by thrift store partners. Proceeds benefit BBBSKC mentoring programs. To date, Big Brothers Big Sisters Thrift Operations has generated millions of dollars in funding. BBBSKC has been recognized as a leader in the non-profit industry and in the national BBBS network; winning the National Large Agency of the Year and Gold Standard Award in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Thrift Operations Director, the Thrift Operations Driver is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position that will load and unload product from donation bins from across the Kansas City Metro area.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Class E driver’s license required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- DOT Medical Card preferred, or ability to obtain DOT Medical Card upon hire required
- CDL strongly preferred, or ability to obtain a CDL upon hire required
- An insurance accepted driving record
- Required to pass a background check and drug test
Nice To Haves
- Previous commercial driving experience preferred
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate safe driving skills and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Candidates should be prepared and flexible to perform associated and related job functions that are not specifically identified.
- Candidates should be a team player and willing to assist other Thrift Operations Drivers.
Responsibilities
- Collect product from bins and partners at various locations across Kansas and Missouri.
- Load product into truck, maximizing load volume
- Unload product out of truck into trailer or warehouse
- Categorize product and place into constructed gaylords
- Sort product.
- Effectively communicate with Supervisors daily.
- Effectively utilize Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and web-based applications
- Demonstrate safe/efficient-driving skills.
- Completion of daily driving report and input data into excel spreadsheet
- Other duties as assigned.
