About The Position

In compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, the principal responsibilities of the Third Class Operating Engineer include operating and maintaining the building automation system, boiler and chiller plant, fire alarm, pneumatic tube, medical gas, and other mechanical/electrical systems or equipment. The role also involves responding to and troubleshooting calls from various departments.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade XII or equivalent
  • Ontario Third Class Stationary Engineer’s Certificate
  • Two years related experience preferable in a hospital environment
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electric HVAC schematics
  • Must have an electro/mechanical aptitude
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer services skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the operations of a facilities Building Automation System (BAS) an asset
  • Ability to keyboard and have basic computer skills an asset
