About The Position

The University of Windsor is seeking a 3rd Class Assistant Engineer to join the Facility Services – Energy Conversion Centre (E.C.C.) team. This role is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Centre, providing first call response to campus-wide service requests, and monitoring and controlling campus HVAC, steam, chilled/hot water, compressed air, and alarms using DDC and BMS systems. The position requires shift work.

Requirements

  • An Ontario Secondary School diploma
  • A valid 3rd Class Operating Engineers Certificate, certified by the Province of Ontario
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience with maintenance, power plant operations, water chemical treatment, HVAC and services distribution systems, DDC and BMS control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Centre.
  • Respond to service requests and record by completing a blank Work Order.
  • Make adjustments and or minor repairs to HVAC equipment.
  • Operate and monitor all building equipment utilizing the DDC and BMS control systems.
  • Perform chemical tests and treatment of cooling tower, pool and closed loop systems and make adjustments to maintain levels within required operating parameters.
  • Minor preventative and emergency corrective maintenance of HVAC, steam/condensate lines and associated equipment.
  • Perform rounds, which may include testing, recording of readings and making adjustments within required operating parameters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
