About The Position
The ThinkBIG Scholarship Program is a paid, two-year educational and hands-on training pathway offered in partnership with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC). This program provides participants with the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree in Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology while gaining real-world experience through paid internships, Caterpillar-specific training, and advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment. The program begins at the Panama City branch and transitions into a full-time technician career upon completion.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required at the start of the program.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
- Meet SGTC and Thompson Tractor admission standards.
- Qualifying ACT, SAT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER scores.
Responsibilities
- Participate in paid, rotating 8-week internships.
- Attend 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTC.
- Receive Caterpillar-specific technical training.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment.
- Gain experience in heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair.
