About The Position
The ThinkBIG Scholarship Program is a paid, two-year educational and hands-on training pathway offered by Thompson Tractor in partnership with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC). This program is designed to prepare participants for a full-time technician career, starting at the Panama City branch. Participants will earn an Associate Degree in Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology while gaining practical experience through paid internships, Caterpillar-specific training, and advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment. The program focuses on heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required at the start of the program.
- Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
- Meet SGTC and Thompson Tractor admission standards.
- Achieve qualifying ACT, SAT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER scores.
Responsibilities
- Participate in paid, rotating 8-week internships.
- Attend 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTC.
- Undergo Caterpillar-specific technical training.
- Gain experience in heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment.
