About The Position

The ThinkBIG Scholarship Program is a paid, two-year educational and hands-on training pathway offered by Thompson Tractor in partnership with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC). This program is designed to prepare participants for a full-time technician career, focusing on Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology. Participants will earn an Associate Degree while gaining real-world experience through paid internships, Caterpillar-specific training, and advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment. The program includes rotating 8-week internships and 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTC, covering heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair. Upon graduation, participants begin their career with Thompson Tractor, with opportunities for advancement into leadership and management roles.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.
High school diploma or equivalent required at the start of the program.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Ability to pass drug screen, physical, and background check.
Meet SGTC and Thompson Tractor admission standards.
Qualifying ACT, SAT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER scores.

Responsibilities

Participate in paid, rotating 8-week internships.
Attend 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTC.
Undergo Caterpillar-specific technical training.
Perform advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment.
Focus on heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair.
