About The Position

The Think Big Program is a paid, two-year Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program in which students can earn an Associate in Applied Sciences degree while completing internships. Students alternate between eight weeks of coursework at Illinois Central College in East Peoria and an eight-week internship at an Altorfer branch throughout the program. Courses include Fundamentals of Hydraulics, Caterpillar Engine Fuel Systems, Fundamentals of Electrical Systems, Diagnostic Testing, and Undercarriage/Final Drives. A tuition reimbursement program is also available to students. The position is based in a warehouse/shop environment and may involve walking, climbing on and off equipment, bending, lifting, and using a desk, telephone, or keyboard intermittently. Appropriate safety equipment may be required. The work environment is usually moderate to high in noise, and schedules and hours may vary as needed.

Requirements

Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, climbing on and off equipment, bending, and lifting up to 75–100 pounds.
Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
Wear appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses or side shields, when needed.

Responsibilities

Attend the two-year Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology curriculum, alternating eight-week periods at Illinois Central College with eight-week internships at an Altorfer branch.
Complete internship duties at an Altorfer branch as part of the program.
Walk, climb on and off equipment, bend, and lift as required.
Intermittently answer telephone calls and communicate by email using a keyboard.
