About The Position

The Metallus Internship Program is designed to immerse interns in the company culture, providing opportunities for skill development, leadership growth, and networking with managers and leaders. The program offers real work experience in a team environment and supports career readiness through workshops on resume building and interview preparation. Interns will gain a practical understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems, apply engineering problem-solving to production challenges, and learn how maintenance and engineering decisions affect safety, cost, uptime, and production. They will also be exposed to business and management fundamentals, including budgeting, project planning, and resource prioritization, and understand cross-functional team collaboration. The internship aims to build professional communication skills and confidence in transitioning from academic theory to real-world applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2027 semester
  • Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university

Responsibilities

  • Develop a practical understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems, including drawings, schematics, and OEM documentation
  • Apply engineering problem solving to real equipment, maintenance, and reliability challenges in a production environment
  • Understand how maintenance and engineering decisions impact safety, cost, uptime, and production performance
  • Gain exposure to business and management fundamentals, including budgeting considerations, project planning, and resource prioritization
  • Learn how cross functional teams (maintenance, operations, engineering, leadership) collaborate to achieve business goals
  • Build professional communication skills and confidence transitioning from academic theory to real world industrial and business applications
