Analysis, research and development of structural engineering specification involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product. Analysis of damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, and thermal analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree with 6 to 10 years experience
  • Master degree with 3 to 5 years experience
  • Ability to use Digital computer software, particularly CATIA, Dyna and structural design systems tools (ANSYS).
  • Relevant experiences in mechanical or aerospace engineering and commercial Finite element codes (Ansys, etc.)

  • Member of the OIQ/PEO (Ontario) or eligible for membership is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project
  • Contributes to their team or department by applying their knowledge of one or more functional areas
  • Fully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from others
  • Has in depth knowledge of the discipline and role
  • Plan and execute structural/stress, thermal and lifing analysis of component/system designs.
  • Use available 3D finite element stress analysis tools to optimize the quality of the component or system design to ensure its structural integrity.
  • Prepare rotor blade off containment analysis.
  • Determine test objectives on rig/test cell hardware and instrumentation.
  • Participate in generic research programs to improve component life and durability and to develop new technology.
  • Work with integrated product teams (IPT) in all stages from design to production.
