About The Position

This position is responsible for operating the thermal spray booth as per verbal and written shop floor instructions. The operator will conduct themselves according to instructions from the Production and Quality Departments, and according to internal policies, procedures, and standards of behavior. They will operate various spray booth consoles (HVOF, APS, Cascade, Cold Spray, etc.), load and unload parts, and understand proper spray patterns, flame color, and spray gun maintenance. The role also involves filling powder feeders with the correct powder for different coats, setting spray parameters according to work instructions, and supporting Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines.

Requirements

  • Knows thermal spray techniques and processes
  • Reads and follows technical instruction in travelers.
  • Comprehends and can write numbers in proper units of measure.
  • Comprehends technical drawings.
  • Uses caliper, micrometer, scale, calculator and various other measuring devices.
  • Practices proper safety guidelines and wears appropriate Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Ability to bend, twist, climb, stoop or stand.
  • Ability to spend time sitting at a desk or workstation.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be physically in attendance at his/her workstation at the designated company office location during the normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the thermal spray booth as per verbal and written shop floor instructions.
  • Conducts oneself according to verbal and written instructions given by Production and Quality Departments, and according to Internal policies, procedures and standards of behavior.
  • Operates spray booth console – HVOF, APS, Cascade, Cold Spray, etc. according to instructions given by the production department.
  • Loads and unloads parts for thermal spray, starts and stops assigned spray booth.
  • Understands proper spray pattern, flame color and spray gun maintenance.
  • Fills powder feeder with proper powder for base, flash or top coat according to powder policy.
  • Sets spray parameters according to work instructions.
  • Supports and follows QMS guidelines and directions.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
