About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Senior Associate for its Thermal Sciences Practice in Seattle, WA. This role involves applying fundamental engineering and scientific techniques to real-world problems in failure analysis, combustion, wildfire, risk mitigation, and product development. The position requires analyzing and distilling complex data, performing laboratory experiments and analytical or computational modeling, reviewing client experiments and simulations, researching published literature, conducting risk assessments, and preparing reports, proposals, and presentations. Project management and efficiency under deadlines are also key responsibilities. Most assignments will require the ability to gather information from and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business, and industry. Field inspections, investigations, and experiments will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Aero-Astro, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, Nuclear, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field, with a practical and theoretical understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Outstanding ability to apply fundamental engineering concepts to new problems
  • Hands-on experience developing and performing laboratory or field experiments in the areas of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer or combustion
  • Familiarity with technical documents and equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Nice To Haves

  • A background in data sciences and/or electrical engineering would be a plus, but is not required
