About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Chemical or Mechanical Engineer for its Thermal Sciences Practice in Warrenville, IL. This role involves working within a team of engineers to investigate technical engineering problems. The position requires performing outstanding technical work using fundamentals of chemical and mechanical engineering, conducting field work, designing and executing experimental programs, reviewing and synthesizing information, communicating findings to clients and project teams, managing multidisciplinary project teams, and identifying opportunities for project expansion. The role also emphasizes commitment to quality management and continuing professional development through publications and certifications, as well as mentoring and collaborating with staff.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.
  • Research background emphasizing transport phenomena, separations, process design, dynamics and control, chemical kinetics, and/or thermodynamics
  • Experience in development of experimental design, construction of experimental apparatus, instrumentation, data acquisition and data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly self-motivated as demonstrated through presentation at technical conferences, publication in peer reviewed journals, professional certifications
  • Intellectual curiosity with a passion to explore a vast array of problems and applications both within and outside of their area of specialization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment
  • Must be willing and able to travel regionally, out-of-state, and occasionally internationally (<15%)
  • Must be willing and able to work from the office in Warrenville, IL

  • Base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
