The thermal business area competes strongly for development, re-development and strategic workovers and is set to remain a high impact, high activity area for the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Energy or Petroleum Engineering is preferred
- 4 to 15 years of engineering experience; with APEGA registration as a P.Eng.
- Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization and leadership skills
- A collaborative approach, with drive, and an eagerness to learn
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and enthusiastic about data analytics & visualization
- Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating or developing thermal SAGD, CSS or steamflood pads is considered an asset
- any experience with software, such as Tableau, Power BI, Python, and Excel VBA would be beneficial
- Knowledge of related disciplines would be an asset: Artificial lift systems (e.g. rod pumps, gas lift and ESP systems), Subsurface wellbore / liner design, Drilling, completions and facilities engineering, Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics
Responsibilities
- Work directly with a multi-disciplined team to bring projects forward from concept to an on-stream state to maximize the value of the asset
- Monitor and optimize reservoir performance and recovery strategies for Canadian Natural assets
- Evaluate, recommend, plan and execute on well completions
- Provide effective regular project updates and technical evaluation reports for senior management
- Integrate current well and formation integrity practices into our development programs
- Incorporate relevant regulatory and environmental requirements for asset development plans
