The thermal business area competes strongly for development, re-development and strategic workovers and is set to remain a high impact, high activity area for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Energy or Petroleum Engineering is preferred
  • 4 to 15 years of engineering experience; with APEGA registration as a P.Eng.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization and leadership skills
  • A collaborative approach, with drive, and an eagerness to learn
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and enthusiastic about data analytics & visualization
  • Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating or developing thermal SAGD, CSS or steamflood pads is considered an asset
  • any experience with software, such as Tableau, Power BI, Python, and Excel VBA would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of related disciplines would be an asset: Artificial lift systems (e.g. rod pumps, gas lift and ESP systems), Subsurface wellbore / liner design, Drilling, completions and facilities engineering, Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with a multi-disciplined team to bring projects forward from concept to an on-stream state to maximize the value of the asset
  • Monitor and optimize reservoir performance and recovery strategies for Canadian Natural assets
  • Evaluate, recommend, plan and execute on well completions
  • Provide effective regular project updates and technical evaluation reports for senior management
  • Integrate current well and formation integrity practices into our development programs
  • Incorporate relevant regulatory and environmental requirements for asset development plans
