About The Position

The Boeing Company's Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Experienced Thermal Product Design Engineer. This role involves designing Thermal Products, specifically Multi-Layer Insulation and Protection, to meet mechanical system requirements and establishing mechanical systems design for Government and Commercial Satellite Programs. The ideal candidate will possess a background in thermal and mechanical systems design and analysis within space applications.

Requirements

Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
5+ years’ experience in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
3+ years’ experience with structural design or the design of mechanical sub-systems or components.
3+ years of experience with subsystem engineering, including harness, thermal protection system, and/or prop feedlines/layout subsystems.
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. A current Tier 5(T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

1+ year of experience working with cross-functional or cross-organizational teams to develop and implement plans, schedules, or solutions.
1 + year of experience with schedule and budget management, stakeholder communication, as well as understanding of execution of program planning to ensure cost, schedule and requirements are met.
2+ years of experience with designing and installing multi-layer insulation blankets.
Effective time management, communication, technical writing, presentation development, facilitation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate and document mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
Develop, maintain, or modify mechanical and fluid system, component and installation designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Perform, integrate and document mechanical, fluid and thermal analyses and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Manage supplier development, test and production activities and coordinate with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
Develop new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
