About The Position

As the Thermal Analysis Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the creation and validation of thermal models for mechanical, structural, optical, and electronic assemblies. You’ll work side by side with designers, suppliers, and test engineers to guarantee that every component meets rigorous performance, reliability, and safety specifications. This role stands out because you’ll shape thermal management strategies for next generation aerospace and defense platforms while leveraging state of the art analysis tools and test facilities. If you thrive on solving challenging physics problems, enjoy working with diverse materials and suppliers, and want to see your work fly on real aircraft and space systems, this is the place to accelerate your career.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Thermal Engineering or Thermal Analysis with knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Experience with CFD solvers, preferably FloEFD 2021.3 (or higher) OR other comparable CFD pre/postprocessors.
  • Experience with FEM solvers, preferably Siemens SimCenter 3D 2020 Thermal (or higher) OR other comparable FEM pre/postprocessors.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in active thermal control hydraulics and refrigeration, as it relates in the Aerospace sector.
  • Demonstrated thermal test planning and execution skills.
  • Demonstrated strength in either thermal analysis with a desire to learn more.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating test plans, test reports, documentation and potentially proposals are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with FORTRAN style input decks OR other comparable computer language.
  • Experience with ablative thermal protection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and developing viable thermal and structural solutions for complex systems and components.
  • Building, calibrating, and correlating analytical models to support product development decisions.
  • Planning and executing performance, structural, and thermal tests; capturing and interpreting measurement data.
  • Documenting and reporting thermal and structural performance results for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assessing design concepts against specification limits, reliability targets, and cost constraints.
  • Collaborating with material and parts suppliers—including plastics, composites, metals, ceramics, additive manufactured parts, fans, blowers, heat sinks, and thermal interface materials—to source optimal solutions.
