Therapy Aide - Acute | PRN Weekends
About The Position
Sanford Health is seeking a Therapy Aide to support Physical and Occupational Therapy care delivery in an acute care department. The role works alongside therapists and supports treatment sessions for patients with a variety of needs, including orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, trauma, oncology, and general medical cases. It may offer hands-on exposure for people considering a career in healthcare. Under the direction and supervision of licensed therapy professionals, the Therapy Aide prepares treatment areas, equipment, and materials; assists patients with treatments; and supports the daily operations of the therapy department. On-the-job training is provided.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
- Physically capable of assisting with patient transfers, activities of daily living, and gait training as directed by a licensed therapist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and materials.
- Assist with therapy services and treatment sessions under the direction and supervision of a licensed therapist.
- Encourage patients to perform treatments correctly.
- Assist with patient transfers, activities of daily living, and gait training as directed by a licensed therapist.
- Assist patients to and from the therapy department.
- Perform cleaning, clerical duties, and other related duties that support therapy department operations.
