United Therapeutics (UT) is a publicly-traded biotech company focused on developing novel pharmaceutical therapies for rare, deadly diseases and creating manufactured organs to address the shortage of transplantable organs. The company has developed six FDA-approved therapies for conditions like pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD), and neuroblastoma. UT is also working on developing manufactured organs to eliminate transplant waiting lists. The Therapy Access Manager (TAM) is a customer-facing role responsible for managing defined accounts within a specific region or territory to support patient access to UT therapies. The TAM will educate healthcare providers and office staff on access services and reimbursement solutions specific to United Therapeutics' products, ensuring a compliant and consultative approach. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including UT Cares partners, Market Access, Specialty Pharmacies, and commercial teams, to optimize patient access and reimbursement. The TAM will act as a payer expert for their geography, communicate payer changes, and ensure understanding of the reimbursement process, specialty pharmacies, field reimbursement services, and UT's patient support program. They will advise on patient-level reimbursement issues in compliance with policies and Rules of Engagement, manage daily activities supporting patient access, and serve as a liaison to other patient assistance programs. The role requires in-person customer visits and participation in cross-matrix meetings and team calls, with input of call activity into a CRM tool. Education will be provided on formulary coverage, utilization management criteria, insurance forms, benefits investigation, prior authorization, appeals, and claims resolution. Additionally, the TAM will educate physician office staff on patient support services using UT-approved materials.
