About The Position

The Therapist is responsible for providing direct clinical services, including individual, group, and family therapy, to clients in our detox and residential levels of care. This role requires expertise in addiction treatment, crisis intervention, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure: CADC, LCADC, LPC, LSW, or LAC.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing therapy in a substance abuse treatment setting.
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and continuous improvement in clinical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based clinical counseling through therapy sessions, utilizing modalities such as CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, to support clients in achieving sobriety and developing critical coping skills.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including psychosocial evaluations and diagnostic reviews, to determine the client's physical and mental condition, degree of substance dependency, and suitability for the detox/residential program.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously review measurable, individualized treatment and discharge plans in collaboration with the client and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage a dedicated client caseload within the detox and/or residential setting, ensuring continuous, high-quality clinical care from admission through discharge.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups focused on early recovery, relapse prevention, coping strategies, and co-occurring mental health issues.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the interdisciplinary team (medical staff, psychiatrists, case managers, and residential support) to ensure holistic, coordinated care and a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Complete and maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation (e.g., progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries) in full compliance with NJ state regulations, federal guidelines (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2), and accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate discharge planning by connecting clients with appropriate aftercare services, community resources, and sober living arrangements to support sustained recovery.
  • Actively participate in case conferences, clinical supervision, and staff meetings to enhance program effectiveness and professional development.
