About The Position

Therapists will be responsible for working with individuals with a substance use disorder as well as coordinating care with providers, patient navigators, recovery coaches and other treatment staff. This role involves providing clinical assessments, formulating treatment plans, and conducting individual, group, family, or psycho-educational therapy. Therapists will also coordinate services with various internal and external agencies and ensure timely documentation of all reports for client charts and billing. The position requires adherence to addiction counseling competencies, including clinical evaluation, treatment planning, referral, service coordination, counseling, client/family/community education, documentation, and professional/ethical responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate and consistently practice competency in the skills, knowledge and attitudes as outlined in Addiction Counseling Competencies: The Knowledge, Skills, And Attitudes of Professional Practice (CSAT TAP #21, 2006).
  • Skills include Clinical Evaluation, Treatment Planning, Referral, Service Coordination, Counseling, Client, Family, and Community Education, Documentation, and Professional and Ethical Responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment, formulate a plan of treatment, and conduct treatment services for individuals with a substance use disorder.
  • Conduct individual, group therapy, family therapy, or psycho-educational offerings.
  • Coordinate with patient navigators in making referrals to other helping agencies.
  • Coordinate services with providers, patient navigators, and recovery coaches.
  • Serve as a consultant for external agencies set forth by federal and state laws.
  • Continually assess the individual needs of patients and their families and reflect these needs in staffing, evaluations, treatment plans, and chart progress notes.
  • Responsible for the timely documentation of all reports for client charts as well as billing documents in accordance with policy.
  • Provides feedback to Director and Administration to improve patient flow and outcomes.
  • Serves on various committees and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate and consistently practice competency in skills, knowledge, and attitudes outlined in Addiction Counseling Competencies.
