About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive therapeutic services to clients and families, including individual, group, and family therapy. The therapist will also be involved in treatment planning, client intake, crisis intervention, and case management. A key aspect of the role is serving as a liaison with external social service agencies and coordinating referrals and follow-up care. The position requires meticulous documentation, participation in treatment team meetings, and collaboration with managed care/insurance companies. Continuous professional development and contributing to the growth of colleagues are also expected.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an applicable mental health discipline.
  • Licensed in Arkansas as a Mental Health Professional.
  • If applicant is not licensed, he/she must have applied for and fit the criteria for licensure.
  • Applicant may begin employment; however, full clinical privileges will be withheld until licensure is received.
  • Temporary privileges will be given for a limited time in accordance with applicable federal, state, or organization rules, regulations, policies, or procedures.
  • Student interns who are currently pursuing a master’s degree in human services and/or paraprofessionals may also be used under direct and close supervision of a Mental Health Professional.
  • The LIP must be of the same discipline as the intern as outlined in the guidelines established by institution where the student is receiving training.
  • Ability as a self-motivator and the aptitude to work in a high stress, fast paced position with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability.
  • Requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, and reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.
  • Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items.
  • Requires the strength and stamina to perform clinical duties.
  • Flu shot is mandatory and required for all positions (subject only to qualified exemptions).

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, individual, group and/or family therapy for UMCH clients and families, as needed.
  • Assist in developing treatment-planning goals/objectives with clients and/or families.
  • Assist Treatment Center Staff with youth intake: assessment of youth; development and completion of intake documentation (psychosocial); assist with case management of clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Disseminate agency and program information to social service agencies, churches, childcare institutions, etc., as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison for clients with other social service agencies.
  • Coordinate appropriate referrals, as needed.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and treatment planning consultation.
  • Assist staff and/or clients with appropriate discharge criteria/plans.
  • Provide client/family follow-up care as needed.
  • Assist with pre-service and/or in-service training in areas of expertise as needed.
  • Assist in preparation and help maintain compliance with Licensing, Medicaid and JCAHO standards.
  • Keep detailed and accurate documentation of all pertinent client information.
  • Attend regular treatment team staff meetings and provide pertinent input regarding client concerns, progress, etc.
  • Coordinate with Managed Care / Insurance Companies as needed.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Clinical Director or other applicable personnel.
  • Responsibility is assumed for continuing educational and professional development and contributions are made to the professional growth of others.
  • Documentation of continuing education, etc., will be provided to the personnel department and copies kept in the employee’s record.
