About The Position

This is a jail-based position for a Therapist who will provide the full range of behavioral health treatment, including diagnostic assessment, individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and other treatment and/or prevention, education, and consultation services. The scope and volume of services will vary based on the specific job role. The position requires adherence to department guidelines and compliance with rules and standards set forth by Medicaid/Medicare, Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), OhioMHAS, and CARF. The role emphasizes a commitment to quality care through professional growth, utilizing best practices, and instilling hope in patients. Patient safety is a priority, involving screening for risk factors, developing safety and crisis management plans, and coordinating with afterhours services. The therapist will promote patient recovery through collaborative treatment planning, incorporating patient strengths, and involving natural support persons and community integration activities. Revenue support tasks include timely and accurate documentation, maintaining treatment plans, and complying with prior-authorizations. Effective use of EMR and video-conferencing software is expected, along with daily use of work email for communications, ensuring HIPAA and 42 CFR compliance for electronic communication containing PHI. The role also requires positive contribution to patient, referral source, and employee satisfaction, acting as a flexible team player who actively participates in strategic planning, performance improvement, and quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Therapists rendering mental health services are required to hold an active, LPC or LSW license through the Ohio CSWMFT Board.
  • Therapists rendering substance use services are required to have active, dependent license through the Ohio Credentialing Board, CDCA, LCDC-II, or LCDC-III (preferred).
  • Heart Saver, Aegis Crisis Prevention, and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate in both written and oral form.
  • Sensitive to the cultural needs of the individual and/or family served.
  • Successful completion of a 180-day probationary period.

Nice To Haves

  • CDCA, LCDC-II, or LCDC-III (preferred) for substance use services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides the full range of behavioral health treatment, including diagnostic assessment; individual, family and group therapy; crisis intervention, and other treatment and/or prevention, education, consultation services.
  • Provides diagnosis and treatment and behavioral health disorders within scope of practice and under clinical supervision.
  • Renders all services within department guidelines and in compliance with rules/standards set forth by Medicaid/Medicare, Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), OhioMHAS, and CARF.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the provision of quality care through engagement in professional growth and agency-sponsored learning opportunities; utilizes best practices as appropriate to the conditions being treated; and provides all services in a manner that instills hope and meets patients where they are at in terms of their readiness for change.
  • Uses best practices for patient engagement and retention throughout the episode of care.
  • Performs tasks that provide for patients’ safety including ongoing screening and documentation of risk factors; develops safety plans and crisis management plans when indicated; and coordinates with afterhours services as needed to promote patient care.
  • Understands the role of accurate and timely clinical documentation in relation to quality care and patient safety.
  • Promotes patient recovery through active and collaborative patient involvement in initial and ongoing treatment planning.
  • Fosters recovery and independence by identifying and incorporating patients’ strengths and abilities into the treatment process.
  • Involves natural support persons, self-help resources, and other community integration activities as critical components to long-term recovery.
  • Decreases length and frequency of sessions as patients prepare for discharge.
  • Understands the role of Patient Care Standards (PCS) as a measure of our commitment to serving those in need and ensuring that access to care is provided.
  • Ensures PCS standards are met and actively utilizes and responds to strategies provided through supervision when there are challenges in meeting these standards.
  • Performs tasks necessary to support revenue including timely and accurate documentation within departmental guidelines; maintaining current treatment plans; and complying with ongoing prior-authorizations for services when applicable.
  • Performs tasks related to grants or other special projects as assigned.
  • Effectively and efficiently utilizes EMR and video-conferencing software.
  • Utilizes work email on a daily basis keeping current with FRMC and departmental communications.
  • Ensures all electronic forms of communication, that include PHI, are compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR laws regarding confidentiality.
  • Positively contributes to patient, referrals source, and employee satisfaction.
  • Performs as a team player who is flexible, willing to assist team members, and positively influences team morale.
  • Actively participates in and follows through with strategic planning, performance improvement and quality initiatives.
