The Adolescent Supportive Housing Programs of Life Link Homes (LLH), Expectant and Parenting Youth (EPY) offer permanent supportive housing for youth over 18, who are homeless or aging out of the child welfare system. The programs provide life skills, employment counseling, and therapy to ensure a successful transition to self-sufficient living and to prevent long-term dependency on social services. Young adults who comply with their lease requirements may remain until they determine they have the skills and self-confidence to live fully independently.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field and one year of full-time work experience in the provision of mental health services.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment under all circumstances.
  • Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently.
  • Must be sensitive, flexible and responsive to gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, age, sexual orientation or any other special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing counseling services to youth residing in the LLH and EPY programs.
  • Partner with LLH and EPY staff, as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the mental health needs of the clients.
  • Collaborate with Acenda team members to implement evidence-based services.
  • Effectively engage residents, provide emotional support, therapy and linkages to help youth improve their wellbeing and overall functioning.
  • Provide therapeutic assessment, intervention strategies that align with youth needs and mutually developed goals and adjust services accordingly.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions in youth apartments, LLH office or in non-traditional settings.
  • Assist in developing treatment plans with independent living coordinators and participate in youth-ILC meetings as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers and agency staff to effectively communicate and respond to the needs of the youth and assist with crisis intervention.
  • Participate in youth applicant interviews to help determine best fit.
  • Provide culturally competent service delivery.
  • Uphold ethical standards in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
  • Educate self on issues impacting the program population.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner that positively reflects the agency culture.
  • Attentive and responsive to client needs in a helpful, supportive and timely manner.
  • Attend program meetings and trainings within established time frames.
  • Follows program policies and procedures and encourages the same in others.
  • Complete documentation within program requirements.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of written and verbal communications.
