About The Position

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Therapist is responsible for completing clinical assessments and providing therapy to individuals, families and groups. Uses independent judgment and discretion to provide individual, child, family and group therapy; counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy services to children and families.

Requirements

  • 2 years of therapeutic experience.
  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or social work required.
  • Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance or reliable transportation depending on business needs.
  • Required to travel extensively (> 50% of the time).
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Maintains patient privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
  • Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
  • Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Current Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) registration required.
  • Current licensure with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and E-mail.
  • Proficient in Electronic Health Records System.

Responsibilities

  • Completing clinical assessments and providing therapy to individuals, families and groups.
  • Using independent judgment and discretion to provide individual, child, family and group therapy; counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy services to children and families.
  • Gathering information, assessing needs and providing appropriate direct clinical and related therapeutic services, emphasizing evidence-based practices (EBPs), to clients and/or their families.
  • Maintaining appropriate case notes and other records and preparing periodic reports as required.
  • Meeting and/or exceeding client service delivery goals.
  • Providing ongoing clinical assessment and treatment planning for assigned clients.
  • Participating as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Providing consultation to representatives of other agencies by providing regular reports as needed.
  • Participating in regular clinical supervision.
  • Managing an assigned caseload of clients (for CalWORKs Therapists), ensuring timely access to care, ongoing engagement, and delivery of clinically appropriate services in alignment with program expectations.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of service standards and policies as stipulated by contract, licensing, and/or other governing bodies.
  • Continuously increasing professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the art practices; participating in in-service programs.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
