About The Position

This position supports the Macomb County Community Mental Health and Macomb County Community Corrections Jail Reentry Program. This position is located onsite at the Macomb County Jail in Mount Clemens, MI. This role is afternoon shift only (4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.). FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement. EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period. CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The start time for this position is currently 4:00 p.m. Under direction, conducts screenings, intake assessments, and case management services within a Person-Centered Planning approach to adult mentally ill, adult developmentally disabled and children with serious emotional disturbance. Requests referrals for ongoing services within Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) direct operated or contract programs. Maintains clinical and administrative records. Coordinates, consults, and provides liaison work with other agencies and systems. Ensures service authorizations are current. Implements program goals and activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience working in a mental health setting
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP)
  • Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
  • Knowledge of Michigan Mental Health Code/401 criteria
  • Knowledge of mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of techniques to de-escalate/interact in potentially dangerous situations
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications
  • Skill in using good professional judgment for the welfare and safety of our individuals served
  • Skill in providing excellent and timely customer service
  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another
  • Ability to approach all situations with a teamwork and solution focused mindset demonstrated through active participation in meetings, volunteering to assist teammates and other departments as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous community mental health experience with children, adolescents, or adults
  • Knowledge of the Macomb County Provider Network
  • Certification with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or an approved development plan
  • Effectively speak, write, and understand a language other than English is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct clinical services, including screening of referrals or walk-in persons served, and assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Provides crisis intervention and performs treatment plans, case management, and transition services.
  • Performs indirect clinical services including complete case documentation following MCCMH policies and procedures.
  • Confirms diagnosis to make the most suitable and medically necessary recommendations and assists client and/or family in obtaining appropriate resources.
  • Provides case management services for persons served to assist in obtaining necessary services and coordinates those services until the person served is transitioned to a service provider.
  • Maintains accurate clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation.
  • Ensures accurate administrative paperwork, including staff activity logs, statistical reports, attendance, mileage reports, and case lists.
  • Participates in agency and system staff meetings.
  • Conducts thorough, accurate, and clinically sound screenings with persons served, guardians, and family members in a timely manner.
  • Requests authorizations for services provided, monitors utilization of services, and requests reauthorizations or continuations as needed.
  • Serves on community mental health or community-based committees.
  • Supervises the work of department interns as needed.
  • Performs administrative responsibilities of a Clinical Supervisor as needed.
  • If hired within the Mobile Crisis Unit, the employee will be required to participate in an on-call rotation, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
