Founded in 1875, Heartland Family Service has grown to address challenges across the lifespan, including substance use, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence/sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, juvenile justice, mental health, neighborhood distress, and poverty. They offer 42 programs from 20 locations in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Trauma Informed Care is an approach to engaging people with histories of trauma that recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role that trauma has played in their lives. It also acknowledges the effects of working with trauma survivors on the workforce and seeks to build collaborative and supportive working environments and relationships. The Therapist I provides comprehensive clinical services within an ASAM Level 3.5 residential treatment setting for adult men with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role delivers integrated, trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions through individual and group therapy, while maintaining a manageable residential caseload. The Therapist I actively participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, conducts ongoing ASAM dimensional assessments, ensures accurate and timely documentation of medical necessity, and coordinates care to support sustained recovery outcomes.
