About The Position

EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency, is seeking a dedicated part-time Therapeutic Visit Specialist to join the Suffolk Therapeutic Supervised Visitation Program. This role focuses on providing therapeutic supervised visitation for families referred by the court, with visits occurring in the office and community. The specialist will utilize independent discretion and judgment to work with families on parenting, parent-child bonding, parent attunement to child's emotional experiences, and facilitate healing conversations to assist families in transitioning towards reunification or unsupervised visitation. The role also involves connecting families with local resources for basic needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology, LMSW or LMHP required.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervised visitation experience and/or three years’ experience working with families or comparable experience required.
  • Knowledge of mental health, behavioral, child and family issues, and the court systems.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies and professionals interfacing with program clients.
  • Ability to handle volatile emergency situations independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Therapeutic Supervised Visitation training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake/interviews and screenings for children and parents for the therapeutic program.
  • Provide office-based and community-based parent-child therapeutic supervision of visits using established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct pre-visit and post-visit meetings, therapeutic supervision, intervening and education during visits.
  • Assist in the transportation of child/children to scheduled visits.
  • Assist with providing parents with psychoeducational parenting workshops, positive parenting skill building and securing outside resources if needed.
  • Ensure that accurate and detailed case notes are written upon completion of each therapeutic visit.
  • Submit written reports as required by the court and program.
  • Assist and coordinate with the Program Director contact with the courts and DSS as needed.
  • Assist Program Director in completion of program statistics, reports, and scheduling when assigned.
  • Utilize advanced degree education, skills, and experience to provide appropriate professional services, techniques, and strategies for clients and families.
  • Attend relevant trainings to stay informed of current research and best practices in the field.
