About The Position

The Therapeutic Recreation Support Professional plans, implements, and oversees the Recreation Respite Program, recreation activities, and other leisure services within agency programs. The role includes preparing and facilitating activities for Day Habilitation and Residential programs, supporting participants’ independent leisure pursuits, maintaining recreation supplies and equipment, transporting participants as needed, and providing supervision and direct care.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the agency's insurance carrier guidelines.

Responsibilities

Plan, promote, implement, and facilitate scheduled and spontaneous recreation activities as assigned.
For Day Habilitation and Residential programs, research interactive activities, create calendars, prepare activities and supplies, and facilitate programming multiple times per week according to program needs.
When unable to facilitate an activity, provide supplies and directions to DSP program staff so they can implement it.
Foster participants’ independent leisure pursuits by providing necessary tools and supplies.
Ensure recreation equipment and supplies are properly stored and maintained.
Assist with creating calendars for recreation activities offered to participants.
Transport participants to recreation and leisure activities as needed.
Strive to meet the American Therapeutic Recreation (ATRA) Standards of Practice.
Provide supervision and direct care to program participants.
Address and report incidents, accidents, violations, deficiencies, and observed or suspected situations that adversely affect the health and safety of individuals receiving services to the direct supervisor.
