Requirements

  • Ability to see objects closely (activities, documentation) as well as distant objects (resident monitoring).
  • Ability to hear normal sounds and voices with or without background noise.
  • Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing in face to face and/or group interactions.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent interruptions/changing situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to discriminate colors (activities).
  • Ability to make an assessment based upon smell (cooking).

Responsibilities

  • Contributes program ideas to enhance the effective administration of a quality resident activity program.
  • Carries out resident individual and group activity programs. Performs duties related to the preparation, clean-up and delivery of resident activity programs.
  • Promotes self-esteem and social interaction with residents and encourages participation and involvement of all residents in activity programs.
  • Provides leisure supplies and equipment for residents’ use on assigned neighborhoods.
  • Carries out social contact for residents on a l:1 basis as defined for specific individual resident needs.
  • Assists in transport of residents to and from activity programs.
  • Encourages and accompanies residents on community outings. Transfers and assists with dining and bathroom needs of residents while on community outings.
  • Attends resident care conferences as assigned. Cooperates, supports and communicates effectively with other departments to provide residents with multidisciplinary care.
  • Carries out the Resident Activity Service Plan of Care.
  • Documents accurately, completely and legibly in accordance with policies and procedures to include, but not limited to: quarterly MDS, progress notes, discharge, and resident activity attendance form.
  • Supports the community orientation of the department by effectively interacting with volunteers in a respectful manner and promoting good public relations with volunteers.
  • Provides direction and supervision of volunteers in a variety of resident activity programs. Assists in volunteer orientation and training.
