About The Position

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting a Therapeutic Medical Physicist to provide onsite services to eligible beneficiaries of the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center located at 7305 N Military Trl, West Palm Beach, FL 33410. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Medical Physics or related field
  • Board Certification in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
  • Minimum 2 years of continuous working experience within the last 3 years in therapeutic medical physics
  • Experience with: Varian Linear Accelerators (TrueBeam with Brain Lab Accessories)
  • Experience with: Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) including Cone Beam CT
  • Experience with: Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system
  • Experience with: Treatment modalities including 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMAT
  • Experience with: IMRT QA systems (e.g., MapCheck)
  • Experience with: CT Simulators
  • Experience with: Superficial X-ray machines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in computer systems and networking related to radiation oncology
  • Ability to pass a government background check and complete required VA training
  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare system with ACR or APEx certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Be available, when necessary, for consultation with the Radiation Oncologist and to provide advice or direction to technical staff when radiation treatments are being planned or when patients are being treated.
  • Where possible, should be present to observe and/or help supervise complicated simulations and/or treatment set-ups.
  • Be present at the machine during patient setup for SBRT/SRS and IGRT.
  • Specify and monitor method(s) to calculate MUs or treatment times and ensure independent review(s) of such calculations.
  • Develop and maintain a method for the weekly and systematic review of the charts of all patients under radiation treatment.
  • Perform a final chart review at the end of the course of radiation treatment in order to confirm that the prescribed dose has been delivered, and to document the total doses delivered to critical structures.
  • Responsible for data input into the planning system, which should be based upon measured beam data for the radiation beams in question, and for output from the planning system(s).
  • Responsible for understanding the calculation algorithm and should document those conditions for which the algorithm and measured data are in disagreement by more than 5%.
  • Ensure that all users of the treatment planning system receive appropriate training.
  • Provide advice and consultation, to VA and third-party clinical engineers, for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the VA RADIATION ONCOLOGY’s linear accelerators and CT simulation equipment, all of their relevant accessories and the computerized network interconnectivity; record and verification systems.
