About The Position

Monitors activities in pool areas, gym, public space and multi-sensory room to ensure safety, prevent accidents and provides assistance to both individuals of Sunshine and community members by performing the following duties. Represents Sunshine Communities and the Aquatics Department with professionalism and excellent customer service. Supports individualized aquatic, fitness, and sensory programming for individuals served. Assists individuals with safe pool entry, exits, and transfers. Monitors pool activities, enforces safety rules, and responds to emergencies by providing first aid and CPR when needed. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the pool, locker rooms, gym, and multi-sensory room. Inspects equipment and facilities, reports maintenance needs, and assists with inventory and supply management. Monitors and documents pool chemical levels and reports equipment concerns. Instructs aquatic wellness classes, including Arthritis classes, as trained. Maintains accurate records and completes required documentation. Participates in team meetings, trainings, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Red Cross Lifeguard certificate and Red Cross Advanced Rescuer CPR & 1st Aid.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Regularly stand, walk, reach, and use hands to perform job duties.
  • Frequently communicate with individuals, staff, and visitors.
  • Work in wet and humid environments.
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May have occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Nice To Haves

  • Aquatic Arthritis Instructor certification or willingness to attend training and be certified
