About The Position

Cornerstones of Care is seeking a Therapeutic Education Assistant (Paraprofessional) to support students in its trauma-informed Learning Academy at the Education Campus in Kansas City, Missouri. The assistant works alongside educators and therapists to foster a safe, supportive learning environment and build meaningful relationships that help students develop confidence, healthy coping skills, and succeed inside and outside the classroom. This role assists classroom teachers with instruction and classroom operations, supports students individually, and supervises students throughout the school day. The position follows the academic school calendar and schedule. Full-time and PRN (substitute) schedules are available.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 21 years of age.
Pass a background check, physical, and drug screening.
Valid driver’s license, proof of current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree preferred.
One to three years of relevant experience working with children.

Responsibilities

Create a caring, trauma-informed learning environment for all students.
Develop supportive relationships with students to enhance their growth and learning.
Assist the classroom teacher with classroom duties, such as grading.
Supervise students during school hours, including breakfast and lunch breaks, and when the teacher is absent.
Implement activities developed by classroom teachers.
Provide individual instruction to students.
Assist the teacher with record keeping and class preparation.
Adhere to the academic school calendar and schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned.
