Therapeutic Assistant/Teacher Assistant - Chicago (WL)
About The Position
Blue Bird Day, a specialized intensive pediatric therapeutic day program, is seeking a Therapeutic Assistant to join their multidisciplinary team in Chicago, IL. The Therapeutic Assistant will support children ages 2-7 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other neurodiverse needs. The role involves promoting each child's cognitive, social, emotional, adaptive, and developmental growth by assisting with individualized therapy activities, classroom/lesson preparation, supporting group therapy rotations, collaborating with therapists and social workers, and helping maintain a positive, engaging, play-based learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree OR completion of at least 60 semester hours of college-level coursework
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children or clients with special needs is a plus
Responsibilities
- Assisting with individualized therapy activities and classroom/lesson preparation
- Supporting group therapy rotations
- Collaborating daily with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers
- Helping maintain a positive, engaging, play-based learning environment
