About The Position

The Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Tampa is seeking a qualified individual for a new position focused on Technical Theatre support. This role involves lighting and sound design for all department productions (theatre and dance), with potential involvement in scenic design and construction. The position also includes teaching dance production courses, overseeing performance-related events at various campus theaters (Falk Theatre, Ferman Black Box Theater, and Gordon Theatre), and operating/maintaining production equipment. The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, private institution with over 11,000 students, located on a 110-acre campus in a vibrant metropolitan area. The university is known for its enrollment growth, diverse student body, and high rankings. The department presents ten productions annually, requiring flexibility in work schedule.

Requirements

  • High proficiency in ETC software (Eos, Cobalt, SmartFade, Expression)
  • High proficiency in Vectorworks Spotlight/Braceworks, Lightwright and Moving Light Assistant
  • High proficiency in counterweight and motorized rigging and automation
  • High proficiency in Qlab 5, TheatreMix, Dante
  • Ability to design and mix musicals with 20+ RF mics as well as a full band/orchestra, and RF management
  • High proficiency in video mapping software
  • High proficiency in Blackmagic Switching and Routing, Extron and Creston systems
  • High proficiency in the networking standards set forth by Electronic Theatre Controls for lighting networks
  • High proficiency in Pathscape and Concert management systems
  • Knowledge in the management of Cisco, Ubiquiti, and Netgear switches
  • Knowledge in the management and creation of Clear-Com analog/digital party line & wireless systems
  • Minimum of three years of successful production work at the collegiate level

Responsibilities

  • Lighting and sound design for all department productions (theatre and dance)
  • Possibility of scenic design and construction
  • Teaching dance production courses as required
  • Providing oversight for all performance-related events at the Falk Theatre, Ferman Black Box Theater, and Gordon Theatre
  • Operating and maintaining production equipment for the department
  • Repairing and maintaining moving light fixtures (High End Systems/ETC, Martin, Robe and Clay Paky), conventional/LED fixtures (ETC, Martin, Chauvet, ChromaQ), RF Mic repairs, LED Curtain and Projector repairs (NEC and Epson)
