About The Position
The Chappelear theatre scene shop worker assists with the construction, maintenance and strike of the theatrical sets, lights and props. This position provides hands on experience with carpentry, painting, welding and technical theatre. The worker will also assist in keeping an organized and safe working environment.
Requirements
- Interest in learning how to use power tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active environment
- Ability to work in teams and independently as needed
Nice To Haves
- Valuable hands-on experience in building and fabrication that is highly desired in technical theatre and well beyond.
- Opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will be critical in any managerial position.
Responsibilities
- Set construction using power tools for both wood and metal work
- Paint scenic elements as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized shop, following safety protocols set by the Technical Director
