About The Position

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance (SMTD) at Colorado State University may seek full-time or part-time, temporary Theatre Design Instructors to teach a variety of courses. These courses can include introductory and advanced costume design, advanced hair and makeup design, set/scenic design, lighting design, computer-assisted design/drawing, and design special topics classes. The role also involves mentoring of design practicum students. Applicants are added to the pool list throughout the calendar year, with hiring decisions made during the late spring and early summer for the fall semester, early fall for the spring semester, and spring semester for the summer term. SMTD is dedicated to empowering students through teaching, creative artistry, research, advocacy, and service, and is housed in the University Center for the Arts, a state-of-the-art facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre or an Arts adjacent degree, OR a minimum of three years of professional experience, depending on the course being taught at CSU.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • A Graduate degree in Theatre.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assignment in Theatre Design and/or related topics, based on department needs.
  • Service to the Theatre program.
  • Office Hours are required.
  • Mentoring of design practicum students.
