About The Position

Mohawk Valley Community College is seeking a part-time Theater Technician in the School of Art. The technician assists with the preparation and maintenance of the Schafer Theater for Theater Arts courses and School of Art productions. The role supports faculty, directors, and students with theater equipment and setup, while helping ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment.

The schedule is based on departmental needs and the applicant’s availability, for up to 29 hours per week. The position is part-time and 10-month. The salary is $16.00 per hour. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship is unavailable. Employment offers are contingent on a successful background check, and official academic transcripts are required upon hire.

Requirements

• Associate degree or a minimum of 60 completed college credits.
• Experience with or knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound equipment.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.
• Official academic transcripts are required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist directors, faculty, and students with technical aspects of School of Art productions.
• Ensure safe operation and use of theater equipment and facilities during Theater Arts courses and activities.
• Assist instructors with conducting Theater Arts courses and preparing materials and equipment for instructional use.
• Assist with lighting, sound, and set design for MVCC School of Art productions.
• Prepare, maintain, and organize materials, supplies, and equipment for classroom and production use.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
