About The Position

As an expert in defense missions, your unique background inspires you to think bigger, push further, and ask questions others don’t. We need your extensive knowledge and advisory skills to solve some of our clients’ most complex problems—and find solutions that keep our nation safe. As a Theater Posture Planner, you’ll bring your specialized regional and subject matter expertise to work alongside thought leaders in the Space Force on the strategic planning and integration of theater space posture and force design. You’ll use your skills and expertise to develop and coordinate integrated plans to advance theater posture in the Indo-Pacific region. Work with us to collaborate with a host of stakeholders to monitor emerging capabilities as they reach maturity for employment, analyze requirements for operational footprints, and assist in the architecture of resilient, distributed networks of terrestrial space capabilities. Additionally, you will draft data-driven input and recommendations for theater plans, service-level directives, and investment strategies to define the forces, footprint, and agreements required for mission success. By evaluating regional threats and basing requirements, you will facilitate the synchronization of force laydown and infrastructure with Joint and multinational partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Joint or Service level planning on a general officer or flag officer staff
  • 3+ years of experience leading planning efforts and developing strategic and operational products
  • Knowledge of how theater posture connects to capability fielding and nests with theater-strategic steady state, crisis, and contingency planning efforts
  • Ability to interface professionally with senior military and civilian leadership
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and succinctly in person and in writing
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Joint Planning Process (JPP) or service equivalent, including campaign planning, operational design, or strategic planning efforts
  • Experience with space systems, capabilities, and processes
  • Experience with the latest AI-enabled operational planning tools such as Palantir Maven Smart Systems (MSS) or other mission command platforms
  • Master’s degree
  • Graduate of Formal Joint Planning Education such as a service-level Advanced Planning School or related credentialed operational planning programs
  • Completion of JPME II
