About The Position

The legendary El Capitan Theatre, a historic venue dating back to May 3, 1926, has been meticulously restored to its original elegance. Featuring a Spanish Colonial exterior and a lavish East Indian interior, the theatre boasts a museum-grade renovation including an expanded stage, a new high-speed lift, updated lighting, remodeled dressing rooms, and state-of-the-art special effects. With 1,000 seats and a Dolby SR-D audio system, it serves as an exclusive first-run theatre for Walt Disney Studios, Twentieth Century, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm. The El Capitan Theatre hosts live stage shows, world premieres, and special events, contributing to the revitalization of Hollywood Boulevard's showmanship. This role involves greeting guests, providing directions and information, managing guest flow, and assisting with admission and concession sales in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities also include cleaning the facility between shows, answering guest questions, and assisting with interactive events.

Requirements

  • Enthusiastic about interacting with and helping guests.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Must become familiar with the Theatre’s show times, let in procedures, food services, nearby tourist attractions, and other Hollywood locations.
  • Must become familiar with the Theatre’s Crisis Management procedures to help guests in case of an emergency.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and carry 30 lbs. boxes, containers, cases of bottled soda, popcorn kernels, candy, and other equipment necessary for operating the Theatre.
  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs at various times throughout their shift.
  • Basic mathematical skills are required for maintaining inventory and calculating correct change without the aid of a computer or calculator.
  • Willing to be trained on the operations of the theatre’s point of sales (POS) VISTA system.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team – must be a team player.
  • Must be willing to be cross-trained in all areas including ushering, concessions, guest control, kitchen duties, pipe puller, box office, wardrobe, and guest services.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the management team.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests, check and scan tickets prior to entrance as they queue up for a show.
  • Be knowledgeable of seat locations within the Theatre and direct guests to their seats.
  • Set up and remove stanchions and barricades as needed.
  • Maintain clear pedestrian pathways around the Theatre to ensure neighboring store, shop, or restaurant entrances are not blocked.
  • Ensure all queues are clean and safe, with trash picked up on a regular basis.
  • Ensure ADA reserved areas are kept clear for guests when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by sweeping, emptying trash receptacles, mopping, and wiping areas including auditoriums, lobbies, passageways, and restrooms.
  • Inform guests on navigating through the theater via security checkpoints, concessions, restrooms, photo ops, and costume displays.
  • Execute concession POS sales, perform food preparation, and maintain inventory control levels.
  • Uphold health standards as prescribed by the Los Angeles County Health Department and other food handling agencies.
